Background
Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru, greatest devotee of Sri Raghavendra Swamy is described in Mantralaya(1078).
Meaning
I am considering utilizing the knowledge passed down by my father, Sri Raghavendra Patwari, concerning Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru.
Sri
GuruJagannath Dasaru's devotion to Sri Rayaru shines brightly as a
beacon of faith. From his early days, he was known for his mischief and
irresponsibility, much to the dismay of his scholarly father, who was a
respected Sanskrit Pandit. Unfortunately, his waywardness only worsened
as he grew older, leading him down a path of idleness and surrounding
himself with unsavory companions.
One day, a person in the town
shouted at him, "If you were my son, I would have disciplined you
severely. You come from humble and devout parents, yet look at the life
you lead!" These words struck a chord within Dasaru, illuminating his
path and prompting him to acknowledge his errors.
Dasaru made a
profound decision to surrender himself to his KulaSwami MukhyaPrana
Devaru, seeking the divine bestowal of knowledge. With sincere
dedication, he immersed himself in devoted service. After a period of
time, HanumanthDevaru, pleased with Dasaru's service, appeared in his
dream, proclaiming, "Guru Rayaru will bless you and transform your
life." Encouraged by this divine message, PranaDevaru instructed Dasaru
to return home and await the arrival of GuruRaya.
Upon returning
home, Dasaru patiently awaited the divine intervention promised by
PranaDevaru. One fateful night, Sri Rayaru appeared in his dream,
placing His hands upon Dasaru's head. In that sacred moment, the divine
knowledge of Brahma Gynaya flowed into Dasaru's being. Transformed by
this divine grace, Dasaru emerged as a learned Pandita, earning renown
and reverence as "Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru" within the esteemed
HariDasa Koota.
Note : Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru lived during
19th century, please do not confuse him with Sri Jagannath Dasaru, the
author of HariKathamruthaSara.
Within the sacred verses of the
HariDasa Sahitya, there exists no greater tribute to Sri Rayaru than
the abundant compositions penned by Sri GuruJagannath Dasaru. His
devotion flowed endlessly through his Krutis, capturing the essence of
Sri Rayaru's divine grace and teachings, immortalizing their bond in
the hearts of devotees for generations to come.
